A continuing photographic series
Objects, flowers, light, and time.
The Brown Wall Series is made in one small corner of a West Seattle home. A brown wall, a south-facing window, objects kept close at hand, and whatever is growing—or fading—in the garden establish the conditions. The photographs begin there.
The practice
The same place, never the same picture.
Arrangements remain on the table for days or weeks. Flowers open, lean, collapse, dry, and sometimes return to the frame beside family photographs, handwriting, inherited vessels, books, tools, and bowls. Light moves across them. Nothing is fixed except the place of looking.
The series
An archive of transformation.
The work grows through return: to the wall, to the window, to familiar objects, and to the act of noticing. Each photograph stands on its own; together, the images record how attention, memory, season, and time alter what appears to be still.
The prints
Very small editions.
Prints from The Brown Wall Series will be produced in very small, numbered editions on fine-art paper using archival pigment inks. The paper’s tactile surface and restrained sheen preserve the work’s quiet color, shadow, and material detail. Once an edition is complete, it is closed.
Artist’s proofs may be retained for exhibition and archival viewing.
